About Us

he Lowell Association for the Blind (LAB) is the only non-profit organization north of Boston providing services to the blind/visually impaired. Founded in 1923, our services have evolved to meet the needs of clients of all ages with a variety of eye conditions. LAB relies on volunteers to assist with all of our programs and recieves support from many individuals and businesses in the Greater Lowell area.

Products & Services

The Youth Program, for blind and visually impaired children ages 5 to 13, provides social, educational, and recreational activities on weekends, such as trips to the zoo, movies, beach, and holiday events. The program is funded through the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind.

The BEST Program (Blind Exploration of Science and Technology) is LAB’s newest program which focuses on science and technology for 3rd-8th grade youth using a very exciting curriculum developed by the Chabot Space and Science Center specifically for students with visual impairments.

The Senior Youth Program, for blind and visually impaired youth ages 14 to 21, meets for social, recreational, and educational activities, such as trips to museums, Lowell Spin
